My Graduation Outfit

It goes without saying last year was an almighty juggle.
There was my final year of university with a dash of trying to earn good money, and a sprinkle of maintaining all meaningful relationships and of course writing here on AOG.
Metaphorically keeping all balls in the air and trying to divide my time into giving all of them much needed attention was very trying at times.

At the lowest deepest darkest moments of my third year study at university I questioned whether I was worthy of graduation. In the depths of stress it seemed like a distant ideal....I lost sleep in worry at times.
I really did put the work in, granted I had to give the occasional "no".
But it was all worth it.
On Friday I shall receive my Bsc Applied Computing 2:1 degree.

Now you regular readers of mine will know well I am a big fan of a lust list.
For once this is what I shall be ACTUALLY wearing....I know different huh?

I did research graduate outfits and generally their not overly written about so I thought I would show you guys what I'm planning on wearing.

I must point out my robes are gold and red hence the bold dress colour choice.
I wanted to be sophisticated and comfy at the same time so chose this pencil dress originally from ASOS- unfortunately it is sold out online so I purchased mine from Ebay....thank the lord for Ebay phewww. Its understated and simple perfect for graduation because lets face it my dear parents will probably have my graduation photo proudly displayed in the house for as long as I live.

Dress: ASOS/Ebay
Christian Louboutin Decollete Shoes: Net A Porter
Necklace: ASOS
Michael Kors Watch: ASOS

Those of you that follow me on Instagram (AspirationsOfGlam) will see I ordered the shoes only last week. I decided about a year ago I wanted some Louboutin shoes and have saved ever since. I cannot wait for them to arrive....it should be tomorrow. I think they will look spectacular with my dress.

Again with jewellery Ive kept the look very simple, my faithful Michael Kors watch which I have had since my 22nd birthday and a very simple thin choker.

Tell me about your graduation?
What would you wear if you were attending a graduation ceremony?

2012 Heres To A Year Of Versatility OOTD

To my lovely subscribers and followers Happy New Year!
I have decided to dub 2012 the year of versatility
Rather than tell you I want a big girl job, I aspire to be fitter, to graduate, to catch up with that list of old friends as long as my arm bore bore bore.... this is my fashion resolution
To Be more versatile with my fashion choices
I choose to blog about this because this appeals to women across the board despite their financial status, their level of fashion self awareness, or where they shop.
Whether you like fashion or not at some point you are making fashion choices.

Before I start let me assure you I have made some of those "in style" purchases that were SO now when I bought them only to ever wear them once and consequently sell it on Ebay to someone in the Ukraine for £3.
Bandage dresses you remember those?
Let me refresh your mind..
I actually shiver remembering this!

Its all about shopping and keeping in mind what you want this item for.
If its for an evening can it be dressed down and worn daytime too?
And vice versa.
Is the item seasonal...are you really going to get good wear out of it?

Here is a dress my lovely boyfriend bought be for Christmas.
I know this shape is particularly favourable at the moment but I view it as timeless.
The dress is from Topshop at £45
Purple is my favourite colour.
Ive worn my dress with leopard leggings. I got them from Ebay for £10 and I love to wear them with a top and heels for evenings, and under plain dresses or jumpers for A/W.
Accessories: Michel Kors Watch, Pandora bracelet, heart necklace
I love the dresses structure and how you can wear it with bare legs tights or leggings.
For evening it can be glammed with a statement necklace or earrings.
For daytime and because my super long extensions sometimes overwhelm me with upkeep I wear this dress with a ballerina bun
Up or down this dress is truly transitional.

The key to versatility is
  • Accessorising appropriately for the occasion (jewellery, lipstick, handbag)
  • Investing in pieces that you can revisit again and again
  • Not always going with the flow. Because everyone is wearing it now does it mean they will in a years time? Will you?
Fool Proof versatility:

  • Leather
  • Leopard print
  • LBDs
  • Denim
  • Studs
  • Blazers
  • Classic MAC style coats

I'm not saying I am any sort of versatility Angel, I aspire to be one! I know right now I have outfits and items of clothes that have only ever had one outing and are hanging there in anticipation..literally!

So here's to a fulfilling year one and all, a year of versatility
Best Wishes

Whatcha Doing Saturday Night Girl OOTD

Hello lovelys! Im baaaack :)

Last week was a good week and this is predominantly for one reason...good ol PayDay!
So with the money burning a hole in my pocket I had a little online window shop....and AGAIN I am disappointed with ASOS' current collection!

Mainly because of the SHEER EXPENSE! pheww!
But theres nothing really catching my eye.

Fear not!
It was with this I had a peek on the Miss Selfidge site.
They are really doing it for me at the moment its all going on over there, and of course with my student discount I was lured in completely.

I bought some what I describe as "Kitty pants"...if anyone is watching UK XFactor you know what I mean.
Yes these are probably my most daring purchase this year...eeek!
But I think why the hell not if I cant pull them off in a club at 22 then am never gonna.... right?
needless to say they tags are staying on till the fateful night I actually don them!

I bought a vest from Miss Selfridge which is affiliated with the Saturdays.
These are a couple to choose from.
In all honestly I'm not a crazed Saturdays fan of any sort I just kinda liked the slogan making it a transitional evening/daytime vest...and I love vests full stop. If theres anything Ill never have too many of its vests.
Along with that Ive finally got me some wine....leggings. I ummed and arred whether to go wine jeans or leggings but leggings won due to their versatility. I have great things im mind for the leggings..jumper cardigan combos over A/W etc.
The jacket with this outfit is my beloved equestrian jacket.
Yes an actual equestrian jacket.
After browsing for a quilted jacket I found them all rather overpriced so had a glance on eBay where I found this little number. I wore it to V festival and in the evenings it kept me so warm.
The jacket features two deep pockets and a button up front, its lining is a lovely check design and I am very happy with this purchase, certainly one of my better choices! I cant seem to find the same one as mine but theres is a nice alternative here

Jacket: Ebay
Leggings: Miss Selfridge
Vest: Miss Selfridge
Necklace: ASOS
Watch: Michael Kors
Hair: mental and untamed!

In other news:
I am off all week, this means more posts and lots of uni work to do.

My boyfriends cat had kittens a while ago, out of the 4 a total of 3 have been sold. I am desperately trying to persuade his mum to keep the last kitten. We have called her Tinker and she is beautiful. She slept on me all Saturday afternoon and is so little and gorgeous!

Trying some toffee apple cupcakes this week a la This Morning if anyone was watching it!

Must get to gym must get to gym!

Enjoy your week lovelys!

OOTD Blazing it up...and a potential miracle hair product.

Hello there!
Today Ive been to university and am off to work shortly...its seriously all go go go this week!
I feel that a blazer can sometimes have the same effect as a red lipstick.... in it has this way of creating a
"Ive made an effort" statement when really all you've done is pop it on.

Introducing my H&M blazer, I picked it up about 2 months ago. Its a really nice neutral olive colour and goes well with pretty much anything.
Major trouble looking at the camera today haha!
No hands on hips though hurrah!!

Blazer: H&M
Same Same Vest: Thailand
Jeggings: ASOS
Watch Micheal Kors
Bracelet: Pandora
Little turtle necklace: Topshop

I think most ladies spend the majority of their time growing their hair right?
Well Ive had a conversation with a guy who had been using this product
You may have seen it advertised as "Germany's no 1 selling men's hair product"
Its designed for men with hair loss and the caffeine supposedly stimulates the hair follicles to prevent hair loss and stimulate growth.
A friend of mine has commented that instead of getting his hair cut monthly its now changed to every 2 weeks.
See where I'm going with this...?
I think I may have to take it upon myself to test this product. OK its for men with hair loss, but if it can get my hair to grow any faster Id be thrilled!

Any ladies had a try of this?

Redding up the daytime-OOTD

Hello bloggers!
Just a very short post for today
I had one of those FAIL moments today. Was taking some pics (or planned to) before I left the house and my camera died....oh man.

Here's my only pic of my OOTD:

You know what.
Its only through blogging I have realised I have my hand on my hips ALL THE FRIGIGN TIME
need a new pose. I think this is derived from those night out pics.
**must make arms look slender...must breathe in** I think that's where the standard pose has come from!...I shall in future try to mix it up a little more.

.....Right you want to know about the clothes...onto the clothes!

Cardigan: Recent primark purchase. It is a lovely knit with gold buttons and we all know how I love gold. Think goldfinger but less Swedish...or hairy...hmm maybe goldfinger was a bad example.
Top: River Island. Its a kinda waterfall top but Ive tucked it in.
High waisted shorts: New look. I discovered these babies later in summer, they may well be knocking about some of the stores still.
Necklace: Primark, I featured this is a recent haul here
Watch: Michael Kors
I do have leggings on here but my wonderful picture has chopped my legs off!
Hair: Looking a little wilder than usual. Just tossed and dosed with a little serum.

This look is all about looking like you've made an effort but in actuality you've slapped some clothes on. The red really makes the outfit and I love marrying the gold buttons with gold jewellery. Red is really taking over this season.

Wishing you all a good week, were nearly halfway!

In Other News
Today (or as I write less than an hour) is my 2 month blog anniversary.
I have already tweeted about this on @AspirationsOfGl but thank you subscribers or even those of you who just popped on to have a nosey and see what this is all about. I have had some overwhelming support and I am grateful for your feedback and views. I plan to do a giveaway soon to show my appreciation!

Birthday Haul

Hello bloggers!
As promised I thought Is share a few bits I got for my birthday.
I haven't included everything just a few so you get the general idea!

My lovely boyfriend got me so much stuff! I have been so spoiled.
He got me a new coat which I will no doubt feature sometime so its a lovely earthy brown colour and I'm thrilled with it. We are going away next weekend and visiting Knowsley's Safari park which I am very much looking forward to!
He also got me some more Ralph Lauren perfume- this is MY SCENT! Ive worn it for over 10 years. Its just so fruity and fresh without being too young. All my friends and family know this scent as mine and my boyfriend even refuses to buy me any other as I wouldn't smell like me anymore..bless.
I also received some tickets to go see Katy B- I'm really excited about this as I saw her whole set at V Fest and absolutely loved it. I love seeing artists live.

Some of my girls bought be a Pandora bracelet and a friendship knot charm.
Pandora bracelets are everywhere..I actually think every girl in my friendship circle bar two owns one.
Its weird Ive never really felt the need to buy myself one, I just kinda enjoyed looking at others'.
Now that I actually own one of my own I cant stop wearing it.
I think the reason I never bought one is because the majority of charms (unless you got cash to burn!)
are silver and I am not really a silver wearer.
However as I type I have it lovingly placed on my wrist. I feel very privileged to own one and the friendship knot holds much sentiment.

I asked my parents for some money for my birthday as I had my eye on a Michael Kors watch.
Many a time I have browsed them on the ASOS website...longingly even.
I am now the proud owner of a Michael Kors MK-3518.
The strap is a classic gold link all the way around.
I like it because its sophisticated- a proper "grown-ups watch"
Its design is timeless...haha get the pun...sorry!
My mum bless her got me this book along with a piping set.
Ive failed to mention on here that Ive gone a little cupcake mad of late.
I made 2 batches last week and one has already been produced today.
I have decided I want to be good at piping...so this involves lots of practice.
This is today's (photoshopped) attempt:
I haven't tried one yet. They are lemon flavoured with a little zest sprinkled on the top for good measure.
I will hopefully reach piping-perfection!

I am going to be featured on GlitzyQueen with some of my favourite lipsticks tomorrow so look out!
Big shout out to my new followers, its a brilliant feeling seeing those follower numbers creep up.
As ever thank you for your support! :)

Autumn Pretties

I know we are still in August. I am fully aware of that as I'm off to V FEST ON FRIDAY! :)
....packing however is not going well as deciding on what to wear, will I look good VS will I be warm seems to be a consistent argument.
However I cant help but compile a list of things I require to survive the Autumn/Winter. When I buy I want it to last several Winters OK! Its amused me because putting this together its dawned on me I am going to be a similar shade if I were to purchase them all. Compiling this requires glancing at the "saved for later" list on ASOS. Autumn also means Birthday in September so that on the whole makes it more bearable! Right....stop babbling...Here's my list:
Boots: River Island
Uggs: ASOS
Quilted jacket: Ebay!- Its an equestrian jacket. Much cheaper than purchasing from a clothing store but exact style/use.
Fiorelli Bag: ASOS- in Sale. Must buy Must Buy!!
Sparkly Shoes: Schuh. They are so beautiful. I'm thinking Christmas etc etc!
Michael Kors Watch: ASOS
Duffle Coat: Miss Selfridge

All very practical for once
What have you got your eye one at the moment?

I shall be back soon with V fest pictures! :)
